Bangladesh announced their 14-member women’s cricket team squad for the upcoming ICC Women’s World Cup Qualifier.
All-rounder Rumana Ahmed will lead Bangladesh in the World Cup Qualifier 2017 in Sri Lanka. Farzana Haque, Sanjida Islam, Nigar Sultan, Sharmin Sultana and Sharmin Akhter placed in the squad as batsmen, while Fahima Khatun, Jahanara Alam, Khadija Tul Kubra, Lata Mondal, Panna Ghosh, Ritu Moni, Salma Khatun and Suraiya Azmin retained with them as bowlers.
The qualifier will be played in Colombo, Sri Lanka starting from February 7 to 21 with the participation of the 10 teams.
Bangladesh have been clubbed in the Group-B with South Africa, Pakistan, Scotland and Papua New Guinea, while Group-A has been comprised of India, Ireland, Zimbabwe, Thailand and the hosts Sri Lanka.
Before starting their campaign in qualifier, Bangladesh eves will play a practice match against Ireland at the Nondescripts Cricket Club Ground in Colombo on February 5.
The Tigress will start their journey with Papua New Guinea at the Colombo Cricket Club Ground (CCCG) on February 7.
They will therefore face-off their Pakistan counterparts at the P Sara Oval Ground (PSOG) on February 8.
In third match, they will compete against Scotland at the CCCG on February 10.
Bangladeshi eves will play their fourth and last group phase match against
South Africa at the PSOG on February 11.
Bangladesh head coach David Capel and team management meanwhile expressed his cautiousness to do fare well as they have to play four matches within five days. They could not foretell what will be happened for their high hopes of qualifying into the main gateway of the ICC World Cup 2017 to be held in England.
A total of four qualified teams will join with four top-ranked teams including Australia, England, New Zealand and West Indies in the main event.
