Saif vows to defend BCL title

First round two matches begin Saturday

Bangladesh Cricket League (BCL), the franchisee-based longer version cricket of the country, is slated to roll onto the ground across the country on January 28.
This year the first two round games of the BCL will be held in three different host cities’ grounds- Bogra, Sylhet and Chittagong. But it will be played in Dhaka and its adjoining areas from the third round to the last.  
Islami Bank East Zone will face-off Walton Central Zone at the Shaheed Chandu Stadium (SCS) in Bogra, while Prime Bank South Zone will take on BCB North Zone at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium (SICS) on the opening round of the league.
Prior to traveling in Bogra- the main ground for the first round, Walton Central Zone held their last practice session at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) ground yesterday, where Saif Hassan vowed to defend the BCL title.   
“Our preparation for the BCL is being very better. We have been practicing last few weeks ago in where other franchisee teams just begin their part. I’m personally doing my practice. Overall practice has been good. It’s a matter of watching how we perform in the field,” said Saif Hassan.
Returning home from Sri Lanka after playing ACC Under-19 Asia Cup, Saif played the recently concluded National Cricket League (NCL), where he stunned all by hitting double century following century for Dhaka Division. He said that he will try to continue his running spree this time also.
  “National Cricket League (NCL) has been better for me. I scored one double and one century there. It would be better for me if I could maintain its continuation. My endeavour will be there to continue it,” the top-order young batsman revealed.
“Baring our National Cricket League (NCL), Bangladesh Cricket League (BCL) and Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League, we have no more games out of Under-19. Every match is important for me. If I could do fare well then it would be better for me,” Saif told media after the conclusion of the practice session at NCA ground yesterday.
He gets impetus from Ranji Trophy players, who plunder double and triple centuries every so often.
“Seniors advised me to stretch my innings after being dismissed for 110 runs. They told me that if you could cross 100, you will then try to focus yourself more to make double century. I think so,” the right-handed batsman said.
“When I hit century against Khulna Division, I then try to stay in wickets as much as possible. I tried to stretch my innings not to make any haste. And then I struck double hundred,” he also said.
“I saw Ranji Trophy in India, where Under-19 cricketers were slamming double, triple hundreds that inspired me much,” he added.   
The 18-year-old batsman, whose batting techniques were lauded by cricket pundits, said that he tries to focus on his game when he is in cricket.
“In longer version cricket, players have to focus more on games. I always try to do it. When I stay free I try to keep myself out of cricket. And when I am in cricket I try to focus on it,” he said.
