A pro-Awami League activist yesterday filed a defamation case against BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia was sued yesterday for her ‘defamatory statement’ about Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
AB Siddique, who introduced himself as the president of Jananetri Parishad—a pro-Awami League organisation, filed the case with a Dhaka court.
After hearing the complaint, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Abullah Al Masud ordered the Officer-in-Charge of Shahbagh Police Station to investigate and submit a report on February 22 after investigating the matter.
On December 31, last year, Khaleda Zia, a former prime minister of the country, said that Bangabandhu wanted to be the prime minister of undivided Pakistan instead of leading the country to independence.
She was addressing the 38th founding anniversary of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal at the Institution of Engineers Bangladesh in the capital.
