Nine held for illegal intrusion

Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) arrested nine people, including three women, while they were returning to Bangladesh from India through Raghunathpur border of Benapole on Tuesday.
The arrestees were identified as Jerina, Ejajul, Sumon, Selina, Kohinur, Sohel, Kazol, Abdur Rab and Kohinur, hailing from different parts of Narail, Jessore, Satkhira and Bagerhat districts.
Nayek Subedar Abdul Matin of Raghunathpur border outpost under BGB battalion-49 said tipped off, a team of the border guards conducted a drive in the area and arrested them while they were trying to enter Bangladesh in the morning without valid documents.
Later, they were handed over to Benapole Port Police Station.
A case was filed in this connection.

Two policemen injured 
PABNA: Two policemen were injured when some miscreants opened fire on them at Dengargram bridge area in Atgharia Upazila of the district yesterday, reports BSS.
The injured police are Sub Inspector Munir Hossain, 40 and Sub Inspector Tofazzel Hossein, 40, of Atgharia Thana.
Officer-in-Charge of Atgharia Thana Faruq Ahmed said the incident took place this morning at Dengargram Bridge area when the policemen challenged a private car. The miscreants opened fire on them and managed to escape from the scene.
The injured were admitted to Pabna Medical College Hospital. Assistant director of the hospital Dr. Munjura Rahman said that SI Munir Hussain had been transferred to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital as his condition was deteriorated.

One held with firearms 
OUR CORRESPONDENT, Chapainawabganj

Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) arrested a man along with two one-shooter guns and two rounds of bullets from Panditpara village in Chouka border area of Shibganj upazila on Tuesday night.
The arrestee was identified as Situ Miah, 40, son of Azizul Haque, a resident of the same village.
Aliujjaman, deputy assistant director of BGB battalion-9, said tipped off, a team of the border force conducted a raid the house of Situ in the area and arrested him around 8.45pm.
Later, BGB members also recovered two one-shooter guns and two rounds of bullets after searching his house.
A case was filed in this connection.
