Two get life term for killing

LAXMIPUR: A court here yesterday sentenced a man and his sister-in-law to life term imprisonment for killing his wife at Shampur village under Ramganj upazila of the district in 2008, reports BSS.
The convicts are Osman Gani, 45, son of Habibullah Munshi of the same village and his sister-in-law Taslima Akhter, daughter of Dr Mominullah, a resident of Ganipur village under Begumganj upazila in Noakhali district.
District and Session Judge Dr AKM Abul Kasem Chowdhury gave the verdict in presence of the convicted persons.
The prosecution story, in brief, is that Osman Gani and Taslima, younger sister of the victim, had an extra marital relationship. They strangulated to death Dr Ferdousi Begum, 35 following the illicit relationship and left the body in a pond near their house on October 24, 2008.
After the incident, the victim’s father Mominullah filed a case with Ramganj Police Station.
Police, after investigation of the case, submitted chargesheet before the court against the duo.
Later, the Judge, after examining 12 witnesses and evidence, found them guilty and handed down the punishment.
