Speakers at a meeting here yesterday underscored the need for ensuring basic amenities including food security, preventing malnutrition and improving water, sanitation and hygiene situation for farmers households in the rural areas, reports BSS.Funded by the Embassy of the Netherlands PROOFS (Profitable Opportunity for Food Security) Project, which is being implemented by icco cooperation, iDE and BoP innovation center in Sadar, Palashbari, Sadullapur and Gobindaganj upazilas of the district, organized the meeting in cooperation with ACI Ltd. at the training room of the Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) office at Khamarbari of the town.
The objective of the meeting was to update the progress of the PROOFS project with the officials of the line departments and adopt various recommendations for the relevant persons for further improvements, sources said.
Deputy director of DAE AKM Ruhul Amin addressed the function as the chief guest and senior assistant police super M. Khairul Alam and additional deputy director (Crop) Showkat Osman were present as the special guest while M. Hashem Ali Khan, field team leader of PROOFS, presided over the ceremony.The line departments like department of agriculture extension (DAE), health department and department of public health engineering (DPHE) as stakeholders could play significant role to attain the cherished goals, the speakers said.
