ULAB off to lively start

Reigning champions ULAB got off to lively start in the 10th Fair Play Cup Inter Private University T20 Cricket Tournament beating BRAC University by 91 runs in the opening match yesterday at ULAB playground at Ramchandrapur in the capital. 

ULAB elected to bat first after winning the toss. ULAB scored 206 runs for 3 wickets in 20 overs. Md. Hasanuzzaman  of ULAB scored 59 runs from only 29 balls. Anjum Ahmed Jessi also whacked a brilliant unbeaten knock of 59 runs from only 40 balls and bagged 4 wickets. Later Jessi was adjudged man of the match.  
In reply, BRACU scored only 115 runs by spending all wickets in 19.5 overs. Nafees of BRAC University with 39 runs from 42 balls was the top scorer.
Khaled Mashud Pilot, former national team captain, inaugurated the tournament as chief guest. Prof Imran Rahman, vice chancellor of ULAB and Prof. Syed Saad Andaleeb,  vice chancellor of BRAC University also spoke during the opening ceremony. 
Juditha Ohlmacher, member, board of trustees, ULAB; Milan Kumar Bhattacharjee, treasurer, Prof Akhter Ahmed, Registrar, ULAB were also present.
University of Asia Pacific will face North South University at 9:30 AM and Eastern University will take on  Southeast University at 1:30 pm in the two matches today.
