Truck- lorry strike continues
Owners Association of Truck- Mini Truck and Lorry continued their strike for indefinite period from and to southern region yesterday demanding 12 points demands, including stopping of police harassment on the roads.
They also held a demonstration in support of their demands at Rahamatpur area of Barisal city. Hundreds of goods laden road transports have been found stranded on the both sides due to strike. But only 30 of the essentials laden truck get permission to entre the city.
5 robbers arrested with arms
Police arrested five pirates from Pankhali in Dacope upazila of Khulna on Sunday night.
The arrestees are Md Motaher Hossain alias Mota, Md Raiful Islam alias Raju, Md Enayet Hossain alias Enayet, Md Mizanur Rahman alias Mizan and Md Anwar Sheikh are members of Shamsu Bahini. Tipped off, a team of RAB-6 conducted a drive in the area and arrested them when a gang of pirates were taking preparation for committing robbery, said commander of RAB-6 AM Jahidul Kabir at a press briefing on Monday.
Four held with 130-kg hemp
Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-13) yesterday seized 130-kilogram of smuggled ganja and arrested four persons from Mahiganj Satmatha area in Rangpur city, RAB sources said.
Company Commander of RAB-13 Nazrul Islam told reporters that a special team of the elite force challenged a Rangpur-bound truck from Kurigram in China Cinema Hall area in Mahiganj Satmatha area of the city at around 10:30 am. After searching the truck, the elite force seized 130-kilogram of specially packed smuggled hemp and two bottles of contraband Indian wine worth Taka 13 lakh. The elite force also seized the truck and arrested four drug traffickers Abu Kalam, Nurul Amin, truck driver Raju Min and its helper Bachhu Mian in this connection.
255 ‘criminals’ nabbed at Ijtema ground
Members of the law enforcement agencies, during its 10-day drive in and around the Tongi Biswa Ijtema ground, arrested 255 pickpockets, thieves and members of fraudulence gang, police said.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Tongi Model Police Station Mohammad Feroz Talukder told BSS that 20 women members were also in the detainees. Police rescued three missing children from Tongi Rail Station area.
Youth found dead in Ctg
Police recovered an unidentified body of a youth from a crop field at Paulegram union of Banshkhali Upazila of the district yesterday.
On information police recovered the body aged around 26, from the crop field said Alamgir Hossain, officer in charge of Banshkhali thana.
47 crude bombs recovered
Police last evening recovered 47 crude bombs and a sharp weapon from capital's Pallabi area and arrested one in this regard.
Police arrested Md Kalu, 28, from inside the deserted City Market in the area at around 7.40 pm and recovered the bombs and a knife from his possession.
