RAJSHAHI: Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) will furthermore work for keeping its installations free from smoking as part of its commitment to make the city clean, green, healthy and educated, reports BSS.
RCC has allocated budget worth Tk one lakh for tobacco control purposes in the current fiscal. None is being allowed to smoke inside City Bhaban and on its premises and other ward offices, city hospital and urban clinics for protecting people from various chronic diseases caused by smoking.
Restriction has been imposed on selling cigarette and bidi (handmade cigarettes) from the shops in front of all educational institutions and the matter will be monitoring strictly.
Mayor-in-Charge of RCC Nizam-Ul Azim revealed this while addressing an advocacy meeting titled ‘Priority Selection towards Implementation of Tobacco Control Guideline’ held at the City Bhaban seminar hall yesterday as the chief guest.
RCC and Association for Communication Development (ACD) jointly organised the meeting in association with Campaign for Tobacco-free Kids (CTFK) and Bloomberg Philanthropies.
