Nizam Uddin Chowdhury, CEO of Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) expressed embarrassment to witness the instance of players’ indiscipline, stating that they are thinking to formulate a guideline to bring them under bindings.
“We have taken the matter seriously after the previous incidents. But one or two has been happened. Actually we are mulling how closely we can monitor the players and how we can bring them under bindings,” said Nizam Uddin Chowdhury yesterday.
Pacer Rubel Hossain was arrested by a case filled by actress Naznin Akhter Happy in 2014. Just one year after Rubel’s case, another pacer Shahadat Hossain Rajib along with his wife, Jasmin Zahan Nitto, were also detained by police for allegedly tortured to an under-age housemaid.
This time off-spinner Arafat Sunny was nabbed by police from his Aminbazar residence in Savar on Sunday in a case filed by a woman under the ICT Act.
“In fact, the matter is unexpected. It is also embarrassing for us as he is our contractual player,” said Nizam Uddin.
“We are closely monitoring the matter. As the matter goes through a process of legal procedure, we are not making any comment regarding the matter,” Chowdhury told reporters at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur.
