Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) will carry out an eviction drive to recover the Nandipara Trimohoni canal in the capital on February 6, reports UNB.
Besides, the DSCC also plans to conduct eviction drives on both sides of Beribadh (embankment) on Babubazar to Rayerbazaar Sikder Medical College to remove illegal structures on February 9, DSCC Mayor Sayeed Khokon announced on Sunday at Nagar Bhaban.
The decision was taken at a joint meeting attended by Dhaka District Administration, WASA and concerned representatives, he said.
Briefing reporters, the DSCC mayor said Nandipara Trimohoni canal will be recovered as part of the Prime Minister's order to recover canals within this dry season. Drive will be carried out in phases, the Mayor said.
Replying to a question he said illegally constructed BGMEA Bhaban of Hatirjheel will also be demolished soon as there is no basis for it to keep standing following High Court's order. People's sufferings have increased due to water logging, which is caused by illegal grabbing of the city's canals.
