Police recovered the body of an old farmer from Khodaboxpur Nayapara village in Gouripur upazila yesterday afternoon. The victim was identified as Afaz Uddin, 65, of the village. Quoting family and local people, Delwar Ahmed, officer-in-charge of Gouripur Police Station, said Afaz went out of his house early yesterday and did not return. Later, his family members found the throat-slit body of Afaz in a nearby jungle and informed police. Police recovered the body and sent it to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.
The body bore several stab injuries, police said. Victim’s daughter Emili Khatun filed a case against some 12 people in this connection. Afaz’s son Tara Miah alleged that his father had a dispute over a piece of land with neighbour Abdul Jabber. Afaz filed a general diary against Jabber on December 12 last year with Gouripur Police Station, said the OC.
