Four people, including an Ansar member, were killed in separate road accidents in Gazipur and Rajbari districts yesterday, reports UNB. nIn Gazipur, Jahangir Hossain, 40, an Ansar member and an inhabitant of Sadar upazila of Barguna district, and an unidentified pedestrian were killed when a bus knocked them down on Kaliakoir-Nabinagar road at Baroipara in Kaliakoir upazila yesterday morning.
Hossain Sarkar, officer-in-charge of Salna highway police camp, said, Jahangir rescued the unidentified pedestrian, aged about 35, who sustained injuries being hit by a pick-up van while walking near the road around 6 am.
Jahangir gave signal to halt a bus for taking the injured person to a local hospital but the speedy bus ran over them, leaving the duo dead on the spot. On information, police recovered the bodies and sent those to Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Medical College Hospital.
In Rajbari, a woman and her son were killed when their motorcycle got sandwiched between a truck and a bus while overtaking the two vehicles, in Kalibari area of Kalukhali upazila around 9:30 am yesterday.
The deceased were identified as Sajeda Khatun, 50 and her son Rajjak, 35, resident of Bejpara village in Sarisha union of Pangsha upazila, said Sheikh Mahfuzur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Rajbari Highway Police Station.
