Central Zone team named for BCL

Walton Group, the franchisee of Central Zone, put forward their 20-member preliminary squad for the upcoming Bangladesh Cricket League (BCL) to the BCB tournament committee on Saturday. 

Now the tournament committee will whittle down the preliminary squad with the help of the national selectors from 20 to 15 within one or two days.
Those players, who will be selected for the forthcoming one-off Test match against India, will not get opportunity to perform in this league. 
Mahmudullah Riyad was scheduled to lead Walton Central Zone but he will surely be in the final squad for the next tour in India. In that case, Mosharraf Hossain Rubel will captain the team in place of all-rounder Riyad.
Mahmudullah Riyad is now in New Zealand with Bangladesh squad. Leg-spinner Tanvir Haider and Shuvagata Hom also went to Australia for the conditioning camp and New Zealand tour but they came back after the conclusion of the two-match T20I series. 
Defending champions Walton, who triumphed the BCL title twice out of the past four editions, this time around formed a well-balanced team with the blend of experienced and young players.   
Besides Riyad, Shuvagata and Rubel, the experienced all-rounder Suhrawardi Shuvo, Rokibul Hasan, Shamsur Rahman Shuvo, Marshall Ayub, Shahadat Hossain Rajib, Mohammad Sharif and Arafat Sunny are in the squad.
They will be supported by youngsters Saif Hassan, Anik Islam, Taibur Rahman Parvez, Abu Haider Rony and Shahidul Islam. Of them, Saif Hasan, who is captaining Bangladesh Under-19 Cricket Team, smashed double century for Dhaka Division in the just concluded National Cricket League (NCL) after returning home from the completion of the ACC Under-19 Asia Cup in Sri Lanka.
Mizanur Rahman Babul will supervise them as the head coach, while Golam Mortaza will assist him.
