Renovated lab of DU psychology dept opens
Dhaka University (DU) vice-chancellor Prof AAMS Arefin Siddique on Saturday inaugurated lab-1 of Department of Psychology after completion of renovation and modernisation work.
The work was carried out by the assistance from life members of DU Psychology Alumni Association. Presided over by department chairperson Prof Dr Nasrin Wadud, the inauguration function was attended by Prof Dr Md Emdadul Haque, Dr Hamida Akter Begum, AK Azad, among others.
In his speech at the function, Dr Siddique emphasized on pleasant environment at the classrooms and laboratories, saying, The teachers and students of the Department of Psychology will now be able to carry out their educational and research activities more freely. He thanked the life members of departments alumni association to provide the assistance in renovating the lab.
Confce on new media and identity formation
East West University (EWU) organised a day-long national conference titled New Media and Identity Formation on EWU campus at Aftabnagar,Dhaka on Saturday. The day-long conference was organised by the Department of English, EWU.
Dr Mohammed Farashuddin, chairperson of the Board of Trustees, Founder Vice-Chancellor of EWU and member of International Civil Services Commission, was the chief guest. Dr Rafiqul Huda Chaudhury, director of the Centre for Research and Training and a member of the Board of Trustees of EWU and Prof MM Shahidul Hassan, vice-chancellor of EWU, also shared their comments on the topic as the guest of honor and special guest, respectively. Dr Fakrul Alam, Professor, the Department of English of Dhaka University, presented the keynote paper of the conference. Zohur Ahmed, chairperson of the Department of English, was also present on the occasion. The scholars, researchers, instructors and students from different parts of Bangladesh participated and presented a total of 40 papers in the conference.
Japanese professor calls on RU VC
RAJSHAHI: Professor Hiroeki Kurata of Kues Institute of Technology (KIT)s Japan called on Rajshahi University (DU) Vice-Chancellor Prof ohammed Mizanuddin at the administration office in the university yesterday.
During the meeting, they discussed the possibilities of undertaking joint collaborative academic and research programmes including Biochemical engineering related research by the university and Kues Institute of Technology (KIT)s in Japan. RU Computer Science Department Professor Shamim Ahmed, public relation officer Prof Md Mosiur Rahman, Bangladeshi Phd fellow of KIT ABM Shahim Ul Haque, among others, were present on the meeting.
Parsian language course begins at RU
RAJSHAHI: A five-day Parsian language learning course launched at Rajshahi University (RU). The programme was launched in assistance with Iran government while around RUs 10 teachers, 30 masters students from Parsian Language and Literature department and PhD fellow will be trained up by two Iranians linguistics.
RU Vice-Chancelllor Prof Mohammed Mizanuddin inaugurated the programme as chief gust on Sunday at universitys Deans Complex conference room while High Commissioner, Iran to Dhaka Sayed Musa Hossain, RU pro-vice chancellor Chawdhury Sarwar Jahan, Arts faculty dean Prof AHM Taki, among others, addressed on the program as special gusts.
