2 killed in Savar road accident
Two people, including an Ansar member, were killed as a bus ran over them at Kabirpur on the Nabinagar-Chandra highway under Ashulia Police Station here in Savar yesterday morning.
One of the victims was identified as Jahangir Hossain, an Ansar member and son of Joinuddin, a resident of Hausibunia village in Bogra sadar upazila.
Police said the accident occurred when a bus ran over the duo in the area yesterday morning as they were crossing the road. Both of them died on the spot.
Missing boy found dead
A minor boy was found dead in the narrow gap between two adjacent buildings in the city's Bongshal area on Saturday morning, almost two days after he went missing.
The deceased was identified as Saikat, 12, son of Shahed Ali, a resident of the area.
Family sources said Saikat has been missing since Thursday after he went to the rooftop of their building to fly kites.
On Saturday morning, locals spotted the body in the gap between the building that housed Saikat and his family, and the one next to it, and informed the police and Fire Service.
Road crash kills student
A student of BGC Trust University was killed in a road accident at Khan Bhottol in Chandanaish upazila of Chaittagong Saturday night.
The deceased was identified as Mohammad Arman, 18, a 1st year student of BBA Department of the university. Police said the accident occurred when a city-bound covered van hit a motorbike, leaving bike rider Arman injured critically. Locals brought the victim at Chittagong Medical College Hospital where the attending doctors declared him dead.
Fire panic hurts 15 workers
At least 15 workers of a garment factory at Savar were injured in a stampede as scrambling for exit in fear of fire at the building yesterday morning.
Workers of the garment factory Anlima Textile in Ulail Bus Stand area desperately tried to come out after seeing the fire on the dying floor of the factory. The fire originated from a machine of the floor, police and locals sources said.
Three firefighting units rushed to the spot and brought the blaze under control after one-hour effort, the sources added. The injured were sent to different
hospitals of the area.
