East Zone team named for BCL

Islami Bank Limited, franchisee of East Zone, announced the 15-member squad for the upcoming edition of the Bangladesh Cricket League (BCL).
The fifth edition of the BCL is scheduled to roll onto the ground at two different venues across the country from January 28.
The find of Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Mehedi Maruf will be seen to perform with pacers Abu Jahed Rahi, Abul Hasan Raju for the East Zone.
The trio will be aided by old campaigner Alok Kapali, Liton Kumar Das, Tasamul Haque, Saqlain Sajib, Yeasir Ali, Irfan Sukkur along with youngster Mohammad Saifuddin, Jakir Hasan, Sadman Islam.
Of them, Mehedi Maruf, who went to Australia and New Zealand with the 23-member team as a part of development programme, played for newly-champions Dhaka Dynamites and impressed with his cherry in BPL-4.
After returning home from Down Under tours, he played for Dhaka Metro in the sixth and last round of the National Cricket League (NCL), where he smashed half century in the first innings.
Fast bowler Ebadot Hossain Chowdhury will also be seen to bowl with Shananur Rahman and Rahatul Ferdous. Ebadot will perform for the first time in the forthcoming BCL after National Cricket League (NCL). The young pacer, who emerged from Robi Pacer Hunt Programme, was signed for Rajshahi Kings to play the just concluded Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) but he could not play even a match for Kings due to his injury.
Being healed from injury, the fast bowler, who also toured in Australia-New Zealand as a part of development programme beside Maruf. Last week the 23-year-old pacer returned home after the completion of his Down Under tour.
This time those players, who will be selected for the one-off Test match against India, will not be performed in this league.
Old campaigner Alok Kapali, who earlier helped Comilla Victorians triumph the BPL title in BPL-3, played for Khulna Titans in BPL-4 but could not play too many matches for it. And so he did not showcase himself in this BPL. He impressed with both bat and ball in the just concluded National Cricket League, where he smashed double century.
