Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu, currently visiting Kolkata, yesterday urged the Indian entrepreneurs to make joint investments in industry sector in Bangladesh to avail of the prevailing opportunities, reports BSS. “For geo-strategic position, excellent scopes have been created for bilateral and multilateral transportation of passengers and goods from Bangladesh to India and other South Asian countries,” he said speaking at the inaugural function of 3rd Bengal Global Business Summit-2017 in Kolkata. Indian President Pronab Mukherjee inaugurated the two-day conference at Kolkata Milon Mela hall.
Presided over by Pashchimbanga Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, the function was also addressed by Pashchimbanga Governor Keshari Nath Tripathi and Indian Union Minister of Finance and Corporate Affairs Arun Jaitley,among others. Representatives from 27 countries, including Bangladesh were present at the function, said an official release here.
Amir Hossain Amu said Bangladesh is being considered as ‘game changer’ in the economic advancement in India’s northeastern and eastern states and the ASEAN countries.
Bangladesh always gives priority to India as a strategic development partner, he said, adding that both the countries can be benefitted through active participation in industrial sector and trade diversification. The industries minister said Bangladesh is an attractive place for investment.
A new horizon has opened in industrialization in Bangladesh under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, he added. He said the Indian industrial entrepreneurs can invest in Bangladesh in the existing stable environment without any anxiety. There is the opportunity of re-exporting goods produced in Bangladesh to India, the minister said and added that the existing trade gap between the two countries could be reduced by making joint investments.
