Nur Hossain discloses details of 7 murders
Nur Hossain

Before being handed over to Bangladesh, expelled Sidddirganj thana Awami League (AL) vice-president, Nur Hossain, was interrogated inside a Border Security Forces (BSF) camp near the border by Bangladesh's law enforcement agencies in April 2016.
During the grilling, Nur Hossain disclosed details about the sensational Narayanganj seven-murder case. In all, 26 accused, some of them belonging to the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), were awarded death penalties on Monday. Nur also said: "If given a chance to appear in a TV talk show, I will disclose all."
About the kidnapping of slain Narayanganj City Corporation panel mayor Nazrul Islam and others by RAB on April  27,  2014, Nur said: "In the morning, Major Arif of RAB asked me whether Nazrul had come to court. I called City AL general secretary, Advocate Khokon Shaha, enquiring about Nazrul’s presence in court. He told me that Nazul was in court. I passed the information to Major Arif. As the Major inquired, I guessed that RAB had picked up Nazrul."
About the reason behind the killing of Nazrul, Nur claimed that the Major had a conflict with Nazrul over occupying a  disputed piece of land in Narayanganj.
"Major Arif assigned me the task of occupying the land, but because of Nazrul, I did not succeed. I told him that without killing Nazrul, it was not possible for me to occupy the land. RAB then planned to abduct Nazrul. Nazrul was my enemy and I told Major Arif to kill him. But there was a big hand behind the killing of six persons who were with me. Some of us were playing a very active role in the politics of Narayanganj. The six were killed to silence us," he added.
The Major detained two persons, including businessman Kabil, and threatened to kill them in encounter, he continued.
"I contacted Major Arif as he too was looking for an opportunity to kill Nazrul following his dispute with him over land," he added.
About his hiding in India, Nur said: "After the incident, I was told that RAB would kill me if they found me. This is why, I left the country."
Regarding his rise as a Godfather, the prime killer said: "Basically, I was a truck helper, and I reached this position through hard work. I have been a councillor for 18 years, and it is but natural that I will have my own cadre groups."
Nur admitted that he was earning a huge amount of money from his illegal drug business and some officials of the local administration, including the police and RAB.
"Even some local journalists were being paid by me. And they were working on my orders. Then officer-in-charge (OC) of Siddirganj police station, Abdul Matin, was also taking orders from me," Nur claimed.
At one stage of the interrogation, Nur said: "I always carried 16 firearms, 14 of them licensed. There were several plans by  different people to kill me, but no killer agreed to murder me."
He also claimed that Nazrul’s father-in-law had disputes with his son-in-law: "I have evidence where Shahid chairman publicly says that he would kill Nazrul."
About his days in Indian jail, Nur said he was passing his days very well as his men regularly maintained contact with him. "This is why I was not agreeing to return to the country."
After being interrogated in the BSF camp for more than six hours, Nur was brought to the "no-man's land" where officers of the district police, investigating officer, senior officers of the BGB and RAB were waiting for him.
The police moved forward to take charge of Nur, but BSF officers refused to hand him over to the police. A senior BSF officer wanted to know whether RAB additional director general Col Ziaul Ahshan was present. The Indian authorities had instructed the BSF to hand over Nur to Col Ahsan and nobody else.
Later, Col Ahsan and RAB operation director Abul Kalam Azad, along with other RAB officers, took charge of Nur Hossain. After being made to wear a bullet-proof jacket and helmet, Nur was brought to Dhaka.
The whole thing took place in the dark of the night. At one stage, Nur felt he would be killed in a RAB encounter.
He requested RAB men to give him water to drink.
