Sholotaka union declared beggar-free

MEHERPUR: Sholotaka union under Gangni upazila of the district has been declared as beggar-free areas, reports BSS.
Lawmaker of Meherpur-2 constituency M Makbul Hossain made the declaration at a function on the union parishad premises on Tuesday afternoon.
Sholotaka union parishad chairman Moniruzzaman presided over the function. It was addressed, among others, by Gangni Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Arif-uz-Zaman and deputy director of local Government Division.
Mokbul Hossain urged the richer people of the society to come forward for the welfare of the beggars.
A total of 40 beggars of the union were rehabilitated by involving them with different income-generating tasks and providing them elderly allowances, widow-allowances and other facilities.
