RANGPUR: Speakers here on Tuesday called upon concerned people to turned the educational institutions into smoking-free places to save the young generations, reports BSS.
Rangpur Tobacco Control Coalition (TCC) and the Association for Community Development (ACD) organised the awareness creating meeting at Mithapukur Model High School auditorium in Mithapukur upazila town.
Member of Rangpur TCC Ahsan Habib Rabu presided over the meeting participated by the students and teachers of the educational institution.
Headmaster of Mithapukur Model High School Habib-E-Azam and its Assistant Teacher Rezaul Karim attended the meeting as the chief and special guests respectively.
Headmaster of Shothibari High School Harendra Nath Saha, its Assistant Teacher Sadekul Islam Mandal, Members of Mithapukur TCC Golam Mostafa, Sanjeet Kumar Mohanta and Sheikh Sadi, addressed among others.
Community Mobiliser of ACD Mozahedul Islam Bijoy discussed about the legal ban on smoking at public places, including educational institutions, and adverse impacts of smoking, indirect smoking and consuming tobacco products on public health.
The chief guest said that there was not a single benefit of tobacco and smoking.He called upon the teachers for creating awareness among students about consequences of smoking and indirect smoking.
