Dhaka University dean elections held
The dean election to different faculties of Dhaka University was held yesterday at the Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban on the campus.
DU Treasurer Prof Md Kamal Uddin conducted the poll as the representative of Vice-Chancellor. The elected deans are Prof Abu Md Delwar Hossain in Arts Faculty, Prof Md Abdul Aziz in Science Faculty, Prof Md Rahmat Ullah in Law Faculty (unopposed), Prof Shibli Rubayatul Islam in Business Studies Faculty, Prof Farid Uddin Ahmed in Social Sciences Faculty (unopposed), Professor Md Imdadul Haque in Biological Sciences Faulty, Prof Dr S M Abdur Rahman in Pharmacy Faculty, Professor Nisar Hossain in Fine Arts Faculty, Professor ASM Maksud Kamal in Earth and Environmental Sciences Faculty (Unopposed) and Professor Dr M Hasanuzzaman in Engineering and Technology Faculty.
JU journalists association polls today
SAVAR: The election of the executive committee of Jahangirnagar University Journalists Association (JUJA) for the session-2017 will be held today.
The polls will begin at 10am and will continue till 1pm on January 19, while the results will be published within 4pm on that day.
A total of 17 candidates are contesting against 8 posts in this poll including vice-president, general secretary, joined secretary, treasurer, office and publication secretary and 3 executive member posts.
As there was no opposition for president post, Moudud Ahammed Sujan, JU correspondent of Daily Sun has been elected uncontested in president post.
Earlier, the chief election commissioner Prof Farid Ahmed also the president of Jahangirnagar University Teachers Association (JUTA) announced the election schedule on January 7.
RU Reporters Unity gets new committee
RAJSHAHI: A 22-member executive body for Rajshahi University Reporters Unity (RURU) has been elected with Kaikobad Khan of daily Jonokontho, Hossain Mithu of daily Sunsine, as president and general secretary respectively for the 2016-17.
Chief Election Commissioner and also immediate past general secretary of RURU, Jayasri Vahaduri, declared the new committee on Tuesday evening at an annual meeting of the organisation at the Racshu office.
The other elected office bearers are---vice presidents Ibrahim Khalil of BDnews24.com and Prodip Das of NTV online; joint-secretary Faruk Khan of daily Sangbad Protidin, organising secretary Mahfuz Munna of Daily Rajbarta, treasurer Sihabul Islam of Daily Korotuya, office affairs secretary Mortuza Noor of Uttra Protidin, publicity affairs secretary Ali Yunos Hridoy, publication affairs secretary Ahmed Farid of Alikito Somoy, literature and cultural affairs secretary Odura Maduri of Daily Dhaka Tribion, sports affairs secretary Khairul Islam ofDaily Sangbad while Khursid Razib, Arafat Rahman, Harut-or- Rashidand Rezbi Ahmed are executive members.
