Alamgir stuns Amol in men’s quarters

Alamgir Hossain of Nordic Club in a stunning fashion upset top seed  Amol Roy of Engineers Recreation Centre in a men’s singles quarterfinal. Alamgir outplayed Amol 6-1, 6-3 at the National Tennis Complex (NTC) yesterday.

Milon Hossain of American Club came from behind to beat Quaser Ali of Elite Tennis Academy 3-6, 7-5, 6-4, Anwar Hossain of Pabna beat Rubel Hossain of British High Commission Club 6-2.  4-6, 7-6 in a hard fought quarterfinal, while  Mamun Bepari of Pabna  beat Faruq Hossain of Elite Tennis Academy in the other ser quarterfinal.
The women’s singles event also reach the last four on the day. Afrana Islam Preety of BKSP trounced Sathi Sarkar of NTC 6-1, 6-1 in the quarterfinal. In another last eight battle Sultana Joly of BKSP eliminated her teammate Nadia Islam 6-3, 6-1 and Ishita Afroz also BKSP made a room in the last four beating Fabiah Lamisa Suchona of NTC 6-2, 6-1 in the other quarterfinal.
Meanwhile  Md Ishtiaq of BKSP with a well composed game fought all three sets to down Md Emon Islam of Zafar Imam Tennis Complex, Rajshahi, 7-5, 4-6, 6-4 in a boys’ singles under-16 event. Ishtiaq by virtue of winning the match entered into semifinal. Arnob Shah of BKSP beat Mehedi Hasan also of BKSP 6-4, 7-5. Jewel Rana of Elite Academy beat Naimul Islam Omio of BKSP 6-4, 6-2 and  Swadhin Hossain of Elite Academy beat his compatriot Md Daian Sheikh 6-2, 6-0 in the other three quarterfinals. 
The semifinals of most of the events will be played today from 11 am.
