Left-arm pacer Anil Babu made a new record in the Dhaka First Division Cricket League for Old DOHS Sporting Club at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium (SBNCS) yesterday.
The young paceman eclipsed Alauddin Babu to set the new bowling record in domestic history of First Division Cricket League. Babu grabbed eight wickets in seven years back. But Anil gave away less number of runs than Alauddin Babu. Anil finished his bowling figures with 10-1-30-8.
The 19-year-old pacer didn’t allow Talent Hunt Cricket Academy’s batsmen as they were skittled out for paltry 62 in 27.4 overs what Old DOHS comfortably run down inside 16 overs.
Put into bat first, Talent Hunt fell into the devastating bowling assault from Anil Babu, who conceded just 30 runs to take eight wickets. The rest of the wickets were bagged by Anisul Islam.
“It’s a biggest thing for me to make the milestone at Home of Cricket. I feel very well. I toiled hard to bowl well,” said the jubilant Anil Babu.
It is learnt from him that he calls up for the World Cup Under-19 in 2014 while he was at 16. He was in race with Mustafizur Rahman and Abu Haider Rony. But all his hopes were shattered when he sidelined with groin injury.
Being recuperated I yet another came back after three-year-long injury layoff. For this I pushed back than them.
“I had weak muscle. I made it stronger by proper rehabilitation suggested by BCB physio,” Jamalpur-born Anil also said.
