Off-spinner Khadija Tul Kubra claimed her career best four for 33 as Bangladesh women kept the five-match ODI series alive against South Africa, beating the visitors by 10 runs in the third match yesterday at Sheikh Kamal International Cricket Stadium, Cox’s Bazar.

With an inspirational bowling, Kubra helped the side defend just 136 runs by bowling mighty South Africa women team out for just 126 in 31.2 overs.
As Bangladesh crumbled under pressure to be all out for 136 in 49 overs, it was supposed to be a one-way traffic for the visitors who clinched the first two matches quite convincingly. But Kubra stood tall against the odds to help the side make an amazing comeback on a day when the men’s team suffered a humiliating seven wicket defeat to New Zealand despite amassing 595/8 dec. in the first innings, a record score in the losing cause.
It was Kubra’s second four-for in as many matches however. Her superb bowling effort ensured only two South African batter could go past double digit figure with opener Lizelle Lee making highest 46. Captain D van Neikerk was not out on 42.
Introduced into the attack in the ninth over, after South Africa had already lost two early wickets, Kubra dismissed the in-form Lizelle Lee. Then, with South Africa reeling at 64 for five, she dismissed Suné Luus and Sinalo Jafta off consecutive deliveries in the 15th over to tilt the match towards Bangladesh way completely.
South Africa then rapidly slid to 96 for five in the 23rd over but Dane van Niekerk kept Bangladesh at bay. Eventually, however, the South Africa captain was left stranded on 42 not out as their innings ended in 31.2 overs. Apart from Kubra, Panna Ghosh and Jahanara Alam took two wickets apiece, while Salma Khatun claimed the last wicket to fall.
Earlier, having won the toss, Bangladesh had laid a platform that promised a total higher than 136. Their innings came undone, however, after a batting implosion, as they lost their last seven wickets for 32 runs, stumbling from 104 for three to 136 all out. Every bowler in South Africa's attack took wickets, with Marizanne Kapp, Luus and van Niekerk taking two apiece. The fourth ODI will be played on January 18.
