Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) will not too hasten to appoint foreign coach for the national football team while they will go slow and steady to sign up new coach.
But a short period the camp will be run with 30 to 35 players to assess the fitness of the players, who were in the national team in last few months.
The camp will begin from January 20 to February 8 at the Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Pratisthan (BKSP), while the players’ reporting scheduled for January 19 and the foreign coach will be appointed before to Sheikh Kamal International Club Cup tournament to begin from February 28.
The chairman of the National Team Committee (NTC) Kazi Nabil Ahmed informed the reporters yesterday after completing the adjourned meeting on selecting the coach for national team that right now they are not too hurry to appoint any coach.
Meanwhile, there were so much talking about appointing George Kottan as national team coach very soon but Nabil, made it clear to the reporters that now they will entrust Paul Smally, John Whittale Raiyan Sanford and Golam Jilani for the assessment of the players’ fitness before to select a preliminary squad for the fitness camp.
Nabil said, “We have discussed in our adjourned meeting about whole management of the national team, right now we will run a camp for 18 days to review the players fitness, while a technical committee, comprised with the technical and strategic director of BFF Paul Smally, trainer John Whittale , goalkeeping coach Ryan David Sandford, Golam Jilani, Zubaer Nipu, Sattyajit Das Rupu and Amirul Islam Babu will select 30 /35 players for the camp.”
“In our long discussion we have reached to a decision that right now we need not any foreign coach, as Sheikh Kamal Gold Cup football tournament will begin from February 28 and players will be engaged with the clubs duty so coach will have no enough time to watch the players.”
