Awami League Joint General Secretary Mahbubul Alam Hanif yesterday said dialogue could never be held with the patrons of the killers of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, reports BSS.
“Founder of BNP Ziaur Rahman had rewarded Bangabandhu killers while his wife Khaleda Zia made Col Rashid, a self confessed killer of Bangabandhu, the leader of the opposition in parliament,” he cited examples of barriers on way to holding dialogue at a rally in capital’s Motijheel area.
Janata Bank Employees Union organised the rally in front of the Janata Bank Bhaban to mark the homecoming day of Bangabandhu.
State minister for finance Abdul Mannan, Awami League’s labour affairs secretary Habibur Rahman Siraj, president of Jatiya Sramik League Shukur Mahmud and general secretary Mohammad Sirajul Islam, among others, spoke on the occasion, which was chaired by Janata Bank Employees Union president Mohammad Rafiqul Islam.
Hanif was critical of some of the civil society representatives advocating for holding a dialogue between the Awami League president and the BNP chairperson, and said but they didn’t realize that such a dialogue could not be held with the patron of killers.
In contrast, he said, Awami League has been trying to establish rule of law in the country and its manifestation was very clear with the landmark verdict of seven murder case in Narayanganj.
He urged the citizens of the country to realize the basic differences between BNP and Awami League in terms of their political philosophy, leadership ability, development initiatives and degree of patriotism.
