Australian Education Open Day Jan 18
PacAsia Bangladesh will organise Australian Education Open Day 2017 at Hotel Amari, Road 41, Gulshan 2 in the capital on Wednesday from 10:30am to 4:30pm, says a press release.
Seven reputed universities of Australia are participating in this event. Interested students will be able to talk to the university representatives in person regarding admission requirements, scholarship opportunity, post-study work permit, part-time work opportunity and so on.  Participating universities are ---Australian Catholic University, Deakin University, La Trobe University, Macquarie University, University of Canberra, Victoria University Sydney(ECA) and University of Western Australia.  Interested students can apply to the universities without any application fee on the event day.

Stamford journalism dept starts course on presentation
Journalism and Media Studies Department of Stamford University Bangladesh launched the Art of Presentation for the Television and Radio course in the BSS honours programme on Saturday.
Samia Rahman, Associate Professor of Mass Communication and Journalism department of Dhaka University, was present at the launching ceremony. Samia, also the head of Current Affairs of private TV channel News24, said presentation is very important in every aspect of a human being's life including presentation for Television and Radio. Vice Chancellor of Stamford University Dr M Feroze Ahmed, Pro-VC Fatinaz Feroz were, among others, present at the programme.

CUB observes ‘Business School Day’
The School of Business, Canadian University of Bangladesh (CUB) observed a ‘Business School Day’ on Wednesday, says a press release. The ‘Business School Day’ provided a rare opportunity for the aspiring youth of the country to come and see the Business School for themselves to find out about student life at Canadian University of Bangladesh, and experience a business school environment of international standard. 
The ‘Business School Day’ was observed in two sessions. Prof William H Derrenger, Vice-Chancellor, Canadian University of Bangladesh, inaugurated the Business School Day. Chowdhury Nafeez Sarafat, founder and chairman, Canadian University of Bangladesh, graced the event as chief guest. Eminent faculty members of Canadian University of Bangladesh, including Dr Atiur Rahman, former governor of Bangladesh Bank, gave highly inspiring speeches to the participants. SM Arifuzzaman, Associate Professor and head, School of Business, also gave a vibrant presentation on the programmes and activities of the School before Tahsan Rahman Khan, prominent singer and, Assistant Professor and Brand Ambassador of Canadian University of Bangladesh concluded the first session with a lecture on ‘Crafting Brand Resonance’.  In the second session, a lively discussion was held on ‘Right Career Decision and Career Development’. 

Malaysian varsity team meets UGC chairman
Prof Mohd Nor bin Nawawi, Vice-President/Deputy Vice Chancellor (Administration, Planning and Global Engagement), University Selangor, Malaysia called on UGC Chairman Prof Abdul Mannan at the latter’s office yesterday, says a press release. 
He was accompanied by Prof Mokhtar Bin Abdullah, Vice-President/Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic, Research & Industrial Engagement), University Selangor.  Prof Abdul Mannan, chairman, University Grants Commission (UGC) of Bangladesh, welcomed the delegation and briefed them about the role and functions of UGC as well as overall scenario of higher education of Bangladesh. The delegation said that University Selangor is willing to open its branch in Bangladesh to contribute higher education in the country.
 It may be mentioned here that University Selangor is a highly ranked public university in Malaysia. In this regard, they seek assistance and cooperation from UGC and Bangladesh Government.   UGC Chairman said that University Grants Commission always believes in internationalization of higher education but quality at tertiary level must be maintained. He assured the delegation of extending necessary cooperation from his side.
