Intl apparel exhibition to begin Wednesday

The 16th Edition of Garmentech Bangladesh-2017 is ready to showcase latest apparel technology from technology leaders from across the world.
Three international sourcing trade shows on RMG industry with participation of around 400 companies from more than 24 countries under one roof to be held between January 18-21 at International Convention City Bashundhara (ICCB) in Dhaka.
The four-day fair is comprised with 3 shows, spread over 8 Halls with 400 exhibitors from 24 countries.
The announcement was made at a press conference yesterday at a hotel in the capital regarding this much awaited expo.
Zakaria Trade Fair International, ASK Trade Exhibitions Pvt Ltd and Bangladesh Garment Accessories and Packaging Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGAPMEA) are organising 16th edition of Garmentech Bangladesh 2017.
Garmentech Bangladesh 2017 will showcase the latest in Sweing, Knitting, embroidery, laundry, finishing, dyeing, CAD/CAM (design applications), printing, cutting, spreading machinery from leading companies around the world.
Nandagopal K, Director of ASK trade and Exhibitions Pvt Ltd, India has urged to the Bangladeshi garments manufacturer to adopt the new technology to increase productivity and efficiency which would help to increase the lead time as well.
The objective of this fair is to showcase the immense possibilities of garment accessories industry in contribution to the Ready made Garments (RMG) sector, Nandagopal K added.
400 companies are going to attend this fair, which is 25 per cent more than the previous year, informed Nandagopal K.
Nandagopal K has informed that 16 years back the contribution of garment accessories was 25 per cent and now it turns out to be 82.17 per cent in the export contribution.
Garmentech Bangladesh has been the technology destination of the RMG sector to modernize and upgrade and move up the value chain.
President of Bangladesh Garment Accessories and Packaging Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGAPMEA) Abdul Kader Khan, who was present at the press conference, said more than 1,500 accessories suppliers are existed in Bangladesh, among them 30 factories produce accessories directly.
To reach the $50 billion exports by 2021, $18 billion would come from the accessories sector, the BGAPMEA president informed.
Abdul Kader Khan also informed that previously Bangladesh used to import accessories materials from abroad but now most of the factories produce accessories by their own.
According to experts, robust backward linkages of accessories in business help to afford the foreign currency and reduce the lead time as well.
Challenges of RMG sector in Bangladesh have many and this is the right time to address the problem.
Nandagopal K viewed challenges in accessories industry and mentioned productivity, safety, compliance, efficiency, value addition, product diversification, fabric sourcing packaging solutions are the challenges the RMG sector is confronted with to exploit the opportunities as it moves forward towards the leadership position in RMG manufacturing amongst the global suppliers.
