Police have recovered the body of a man from Kushkhali border yesterday, who was allegedly shot dead by members of Indian Border Security Force (BSF).
The body was recovered from Badhilki marsh of Kushkhali village in Sadar upazila early yesterday. The deceased was identified as Mukul Hossain, 35, son of Mahatab Uddin of Hawalkhali village in the upazila.
Officer In-charge of Sadar Police Station Emdad Hossain said being informed by locals, a police team recovered the body from the marsh at about 12:30 am. The body was sent to Satkhira Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.
Sources said, BSF troops from Dubli camp opened fire on a group of Bangladeshi cattle traders, including Mukul, as they were returning home with cattle at around 3:00am on Saturday. Mukul was hit by bullets and died on the spot. Md Ali, another cattleman accompanying Mukul, carried his dead body into the country.
