Academic delegation calls on DU VC
A 10-member academic delegation, comprising students and academics from the UK and Tanzania, called on Dhaka University (DU) Vice Chancellor Prof AAMS Arefin Siddique at the latter's office on Monday.
The delegation was led by Dr Manoj Roy, a teacher and researcher at Lancaster University in the UK. Prof Alphonce G Kyessi from Tanzania was also among the delegates. They discussed several issues, including collaborative academic and research projects, drawing on examples of these conducted by Dr Roy in various institutions of Asia and Africa. Two DU departments - Zoology and Microbiology- came to be involved in the joint collaborative academic and research projects run by Dr Roy
JU to observe University Day tomorrow
SAVAR: The Jahangirnagar University (JU) authorities have taken up a programme to observe the University Day tomorrow marking its 46th founding anniversary
On the occasion, a daylong programme, includes hoisting national flag in the morning, film exhibition at Zahir Raihan Auditorium, fanush festival at JU teachers and students centre (TSC) and puppet show at Selim Al Din Muktamancha (Open Air Theater) in the evening. Meanwhile, marking the Alumni day, on January 13 (Friday), the day long programme includes colorful procession, reception to university 2nd batch students, and cultural events by university’s cultural groups. Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Farzana Islam will expected to inaugurate the programme while all the former and incumbent teachers, students, officials and employees of the university are cordially requested to attend this programme.
Orientation, cultural programme held at BAU
MYMENSINGH: Greater Rangpur Association of Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) and Mymensingh district organised a orientation, cultural programme on the campus on Monday.
Prof Md Abdur Rahman Sarker of Agronomy department of BAU attended the programme as the chief guest. Md Shah Alam, joint-secretary, also the director of National Academy for Primary Education (NAPE), Prof Md Habibur Rahman Pramanaik of crop botany department and Prof AKM Zakir Hossain, proctor of BAU, attended the programme as the special guests. President of Greater Rangpur Association Prof Rois Uddin Miah chaired the programme while general secretary of the association Dr. Md. Azahrul Islam conducted the programme. A total 36 students received education scholarship in the programme. Thereafter, a cultural programme was held at the Shilpacharya Zainul Abedin auditorium in where teachers and students of the association took part. An auditorium full audience enjoyed the programme.
