The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)-1 yesterday took the charges of crimes against humanity pressed by the prosecution against three alleged war criminals from Netrokona, into cognizance, reports BSS.
The three accused are Hedayet Ullah Anju,80, his brother Enayet Ullah Manju, 70, and Sohrab Fakir, 88, of Atpara upazila of Netrokona. Of the three, Anju is yet to be arrested.
"The three-member tribunal headed by Justice Anwarul Haque took the charges into cognisance and set March 7 for further hearing in the case," said prosecutor Sabina Yesmin Khan.
Earlier the prosecution pressed five charges including of genocide and murder against the trio.
According to the prosecution, all the accused were members of local peace committee and subsequently joined Razakar Bahini when the war began. They carried out monstrous attacks in villages Modhuakhari, Mobarakpur, Sukhari and Modon in the district.
