The government has promoted three secretaries to senior secretaries under different ministries, reports UNB. A notification in this regard was issued yesterday by the Public Administration Ministry. According to the notice, Begum Mushfeka Iqfat, chairman of Bangladesh Tariff Commission; Mesbah Ul Alam, secretary to the Land Ministry; and Suraiya Begum, secretary to the Prime Minister’s Office, will see their posts promoted to the equivalent of senior secretaries. The AL government created the post of senior secretary in 2012, to allow itself more room to reward a clutch of public administration officials. Following today’s promotions, the number of officials at senior secretary level now stands at 10. Senior secretaries enjoy the same grade as the cabinet secretary, and the prime minister’s principal secretary.
