Nazmul Hassan Papon, president of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) expressed his optimism about Bangladesh-India series, stating that the one-off Test match with Team India will be held in scheduled time whatever changes come in Board of Cricket for Control in India (BCCI).
It has been speculated that the changes in BCCI may dent the upcoming one-off Test series between Bangladesh and India in February.
“Basically we saw the issue of Hyderabad first in TV scroll. But India did not officially inform us anything till now. In fact, the same question has been raised regarding some more series with other countries,” Papon said yesterday.
“You all know that a major change has been made in BCCI. Who will come in the charge of the BCCI has not been known yet. But we heard that someone will be appointed in the next Tuesday,” the BCB chief added.
“But I wholeheartedly believe that those ICC events or bilateral series which have already been signed or published will be happened whoever is come in charge or whatever is happened in BCCI. I don’t believe the cricket-crazy nation like India and the strong cricket board like BCCI will be halted or suspended the agreed series by showing any such excuse,” he expected.
The BCB boss said that they have already done their deal with Sri Lankan Cricket board for their tour in February.
“The date of Sri Lanka tour has been done. Orally all the things have been done but the deal has not been penned yet. We will send it after CEO comes,” he revealed.
“They proposed to play only one day matches. But we wanted to add T20. Finally it has been settled that we both play Test, one day along with T20 as per the original plan,” he said.
Pace prodigy Mustafizur Rahman, who sustained injury in waist, increased the concerned of Bangladesh tent when he was dropped of the third and last T20 against the hosts New Zealand.
He was scheduled to play the second and last Test of the two-match series after he was rested for the first Test. It was aired that the team management was planning to play him in the last Test match even with pain but he wanted to return home after being feared by the further injury.
Papon termed it as a speculation and said that they want to bring him back fully recuperated after giving him proper treatment in Australia or New Zealand.
“The issue has been spread out like Mashrafe’s issue that Mustafiz wants to return home. Mustafiz don’t tell me anything. Like you, many ask me such question. But I think it is also a speculation,” the BCB boss told.
“I don’t know about it officially. I talk to Mustafiz at regular basis. In fact, he was slated to play the third T20. But while I heard he will not play then I become worried. As a result, I talk to him and got to know that he still feels pain. But there is no problem in his operational place. His problem has been in his waist,” he said.
“This is all it is. I immediately informed the officials as he has still pains so no question of playing. I heard that he wants to come. I told them not to come here. We will bring him back after he is healed fully by receiving the best possible treatment there,” he also said.
