6 fined for sand lifting

Sirajganj: A mobile court on Saturday fined six truck drivers Tk 10,000 each for lifting sand illegally at Biara Ghat in the municipality on Saturday afternoon, reports UNB. The convicted drivers are: Hasan Ali, 40, Suman, 25, Harez, 32, Ratan, 35, Buddu, 38 and Lal Chan Sheikh, 42. They will have to serve 10 days in jail if they fail to pay the fine. On secrete information that a group of people were lifting sand illegally at Biara Ghat in the municipality, a team of police conducted a drive there and arrested the six drivers, said officer-in-charge of Sirajganj Sadar Police Station Helal Uddin
