A Supreme Court (SC) circular yesterday directed lower court judges not to invite outsiders, including politicians, to any occasion of the judiciary. It also asked trial court judges not to organise any ceremony during judicial functioning or court’s time. The circular said trial courts were not expected to invite political leaders, businessmen and others, who were not related with the judiciary, at all occasions hosted by them. It also directed lower courts against inviting persons not associated with the judiciary to take the stage and give speeches during such occasions. Such invitations were against the spirit of the disciplinary rules and code of conduct for lower court judges, it added. The circular was sent to lower court authorities across the country. It further said the authorities of lower courts were recently organising events during the court’s time, which was not acceptable.
