RAJSHAHI: Collective efforts of law-enforcers and communities, including imams and other leaders of influences could be effective means of preventing and eradicating all sorts of terrorism, militancy, terror attacks and drug-addiction, reports BSS.
The present government of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is determined to uproot all sorts of terrorism and militancy with collective efforts of all quarters especially community people, imams and other religious leaders.
The observations came at an anti-terrorism and anti-militancy meeting here on Saturday. Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (RMP) and Motiher unit of Community Policing
Forum jointly organised the meeting with the main thrust of encouraging and motivating the people towards freeing the society from various crimes. Shafiqul Islam, commissioner of RMP, attended and addressed the function as the chief guest with Dr Abdul Mannan, unit president of Community Policing, in the chair. Deputy Police Commissioners Tanvir Haider Chowdhury and Amir Jafar, Additional Deputy Commissioners Shirin Akter Jahan and Abdur Rashid, Assistant Commissioner Ifte Khayer Alam and officer-in-charge of Motiher Police Station Humayun Kabir also spoke.
RMP Commissioner Shafiqul Islam said the community people should extend cooperation to the police with specific information about criminals. The RMP commissioner said the community people know well about location of the criminals, drug traffickers and traders and the police need the information from the citizens for taking legal action against them.
