The government has decided to observe a countrywide National Fisheries Week from July 28 next, aiming to preserve the country’s fish resources and boost its output, reports UNB.
The National Fisheries Week observance committee took the decision at its meeting at Fisheries and Livestock Ministry yesterday held with Fisheries and Livestock Minister Muhammed Syedul Haque in the chair.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is expected to formally inaugurate the week on July 29.
Fisheries and Livestock secretary Shelina Afroza, additional secretary Anisur Rahman, joint secretary of Information Ministry Gazi Ali Akbar and director general Syed Arif Azad were, among others, present at the meeting.
