Zakat donors urged to deposit money with govt fund

MYMENSINGH: Religious Affairs Minister Principal Motiur Rahman called upon the rich people to deposit their Zakat money with the government Zakat fund which will be distributed among the poor people in a proper way, reports BSS.
Minister said this while addressing a function arranged for distribution of government grants among family members of stampede victims in the auditorium of deputy commissioner yesterday morning.
A total of 27 people were killed in the stampede during distribution of Zakat clothes in the district town on Friday morning.
The minister said the government is very much sincere to stop such tragic incidents in future. Motiur said his ministry will issue a fresh circular to this effect soon.
The minister distributed Tk 10 thousand to each of the families affected in the stampede.
Deputy Commissioner Mustakim Billah Faruqui, Police Super Moinul Haque were present the function, among others.
Earlier, the minister visited some houses of the victims at Charpara and Akua area and gave assurance of providing necessary help to the affected families.
