A five-day exhibition on urban design project titled ‘Life Line For Dhaka’ (Integrating Metro Rail Station with Urban Fabric), organised by Department of Architecture, Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), will begin today at the La Galerie of Alliance Française de Dhaka (AFD) in the capital’s Dhanmondi.The inaugural ceremony of the exhibition will be held today at 5 pm, where director of Dhaka Mass Transit Company Ltd Md Kaikobad Hossain will attend the occasion as the chief guest and Road Transport and Highways Division Secretary MAN Siddique will be present as special guest.
Mega city Dhaka has been suffering from worst traffic congestions since last two decades. Mass Rapid Transit (MRT), with a combination of train and bus, is suggested to be the most popular solution to support the masses of Dhaka. In response to the above issues, Department of Architecture of BUET has exercised a design project.
After the inauguration, the exhibition will remain open to all until January 10 and can be visited according to the following schedule—Mondays to Thursdays from 3pm to 9pm, Fridays and Saturdays (9am to12pm and 5:00pm to 8:00pm).
