Gunsmith factory unearthed
Cox’s Bazar: Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in a special drive unearthed a gunsmith factory in the dense hilly jungle of Pahartali in Maheshkhali upazila and arrested two people in this connection on Wednesday, reports UNB.
Lt Col Ashekur Rahman, company commander of Cox’s Bazar Rab-7, said on information, a Rab team carried out the drive in the forest from 9:00am to 3:00pm and unearthed the gunsmith factory.The elite force recovered 22 home made firearms, 22 rounds of bullets, and 33 pieces of various gunsmith tools searching the factory. The Rab members also arrested workers Md Abdul Mabud, 40, son of late Azam Ullah of Munshir Deil village in Pahartali, and Md Abu Taher, 42, son of Kabir Ahmed of Ahammodia Kata village of the upazila, in this connection.
One killed in bomb blast

A man was killed and another injured when a group of robbers exploded bombs in their bid to break into a house at Kulapala village in Alamdanga upazila early yesterday.
The deceased was identified as Nasir Uddin, son of late Badal Mondal of the village. Quoting locals, police said a gang of armed robbers, numbering 10-12, tried to break into the house of one Nasir Uddin in the area at about 2 am.As the house inmates raised a hue and cry, the robbers threw a bomb into the house that went off with a big bang and injured Nasir.
When locals rushed towards the house, the robbers exploded another bomb, leaving one Liton of the village injured.The injured were taken to Chuadanga Sadar Hospital where doctors declared Nasir dead.Informed, police recovered the body and sent it to the hospital morgue for autopsy.
Acting superintendent of police Muhammad Belayet Hossain visited the spot.
Arms, ammo recovered

Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) recovered one pistol, two magazines and five rounds of bullets from Masudpur bordering area in Shibganj upazila on Wednesday.
However, no one was arrested in the this connection.
Lt Col SM Abul Ahsan, commander of Chapainawabganj BGB battalion-9, said tipped off, a team of the border force challenged a man for his suspicious movement in the area in the afternoon. Sensing danger, he fled the scene leaving a bag behind.Later, the BGB members recovered one pistol, two magazines and five rounds of bullets from the bag.
55 arrested with drugs
DINAJPUR: Police, in special drives from Wednesday night to yesterday morning, arrested 55 persons including 11 drug traders, and recovered illegal drugs- Phensidyl, yaba tablets and locally made liquor - from 13 upazilas of the district, reports BSS.
Several cases, including charges of subversive activities, are pending with different police stations against some of the arrested persons, the sources added. The arrested people were sent to jail this afternoon.
