Ctg WASA cuts off 69 connections

A mobile court of Chittagong Water Supply and Sewerage Authority (CWASA) disconnected 69 connections and 38 deep-tube-well connections for arrears in the last three months.

The mobile court was led by executive magistrate of CWASA Hillol Biswas.  “In drive in October, November and December in 2016 at city’s Halishahar, Madarbari, Phartali, Sadarghat, Majirghat, Panchalish, Sholokbahar, Khwaja Road, Bahaddarhat, Muradpur, O.R Nizam Road, Reazuddin Bazar, Aturar Depu, KorbaniGanj, Phatharghata, Agrabad, Nala para Jamal Khan Askardigir Phar these lines were disconnected at realsied Tk51,68,751 of water bill, said Hillol Biswas. In the drive 67 people were fined to Tk3, 27,00 while licences of  38 deep-tube-well were cancelled.  
“Now people are happy as they are getting water but some people are not paying bills. We found some mineral water purifying companies also are selling water in bottles directly from CWASA lines and we already have launched our drive against them and it will be continued,” said Hillol Biswas. The dive was conducted with the help of Chittagong Metropolitan Police. The drive of mobile court will continue for smooth supply of water, said CWASA sources.
