Bangladesh won the runners trophy of the SAFF Women’s Football Championship when they went down to India by 3-1 in the final yesterday.
Held at the Kanchenjunga Stadium, Siliguiri, host India celebrated the title for four times in a row while they won the previous three editions.
Dangmei opened the scoring for India while Susmita and Indumathi added one each for India. Sirat Jahan Swapna reduced one for Bangladesh.
It was the first time Bangladesh played in the final and also won the runners-up trophy while in the previous three editions they could not reach the semifinals for twice and eliminated from the group phase.
