President Abdul Hamid yesterday called upon for innovating species of different types of vegetables appropriate for all the season and techniques to make the trend sustainable, reports BSS.
In a message he hopes that the National Vegetable Fair, 2017 will help increase awareness among the people about cultivation, distribution and preservation of the vegetables alongside with the demand of nutrition.
Describing the theme of the fair “Sushtha Sabal Sashtha Chan, Beshi Beshi Sobji Khan” (intake more vegetables for sound health) as time befitting and logical, he said, “The vegetables containing various types of vitamins and mineral salt keep sound our body as well as mind.”
“The contribution of the vegetables is immense in keeping our body sound with fulfilling the demand of nutrition,” the president said, adding that Bangladesh is now exporting foods as a country of surplus in producing foods after achieving self reliance to this end due to the timely measures taken by the government and continuous efforts of the concerned people.
He suggested cultivating seasonal vegetables in each cultivable lands as the soil and weather of the country suit it as well as it is beneficial financially and for fulfilling the demand of nutrition and said, “The production of the vegetables has reached the record level which is expected.”
