The National Awami Party (NAP) yesterday proposed making a law and regulations for formation of the Election Commission (EC) during talks with President Abdul Hamid at Bangabhaba, BSS reports.
A 10-member NAP delegation led by its executive president Amina Ahmed met the President in response to his initiatives to hold talks with political parties on constituting a new EC and gave the proposal to him. The delegation placed a 7-point proposal in the discussion held at the Darbar Hall of Bangabhaban this afternoon, President's Press Secretary Joynal Abedin told reporters.
According to the proposal, the search committee should comprise of people like justices, former vice-chancellors of public universities and men from other professions having belief in the spirit of the Liberation War.
