Painting exhibition ends
A 10-day group art exhibition titled Rhythm on Canvas ended on Tuesday at the Gallery Twenty One in the capital. ARTBEAT, a group of four artists, organised the exhibition, Shama Shaiom, an artist, told BSS.
Four artists--- Shama Shaiom, Tithi, Kakoly and Provati--- displayed their artworks at the exhibition, she added. Shama said, This is our first exhibition. We have got good response from visitors. A significant number of people of all ages visited the exhibition, which is our achievement, she added.
28 arrested with drugs
Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), in separate drives in different areas, arrested 28 people with different contraband items including yaba tablets and heroin in last 24 hours, said a press release yesterday morning. As many as 589 pieces of yaba tablets, two grams of heroin, 111 pieces of injection, 600 kgs of cannabis (ganja), 37 bottles of phensidyl and 48 cane bear were seized from their possessions, the release added.
Training programme held
The government is preparing National Household Database(NHD) to identify economic status of the people aiming to eliminate poverty from the country, officials told a function yesterday.
We are using Proxy Mean Test-Formula (PMTF) to assess economic status of every household in Bangladesh, Deputy Project Director of NHD Programme Dr Neyamat Ullah Bhuiyan said while addressing the inaugural function of Training of Trainers (ToT) for Zonal Operation at Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS) in the capital. The National Household Database Project under the BBS in cooperation with Thengamara Mohila Sabuj Sangha (TMSS) has organised the two-day training programme.
Additional Secretary of Statistics and Informatics Division Bikash Kishore Das, Consultant of TMSS Md Abul Quasem and senior officials of Statistics and Informatics Division, among others, addressed the function with BBS Director General Md Amir Hossain in the chair.
