Five ‘robbers’ arrested 
OUR CORRESPONDENT, Jamalpur 

Police in a drive arrested five suspected robbers along with country made weapons in Bakshiganj upazila of Jamalpur district early yesterday.
According to police sources, on secret information, police raided Nilaxmia Bridge and Ramrampur ferry ghat area in the upazila and arrested the five robbers. 
The arrested robbers are Lutfar Rahman, 43, of village Ghashirpara, Zaher Ali,45, of village Malir Char Chalakpara, Akram, 23, of village Malir Char Beparipara, Rubel Miah, 31, of village Chalakpara and Lazu, 32, of Bakshiganj sadar upazila road area in Bakshiganj upazila.
Police also recovered huge amount of country made weapons and gold ornaments from their possession.   
Officer-in-charge of Bakshiganj police station, Md Aslam Hossain said several robbery cases are pending in various police stations against the robbers.
A case was registered with Bakshiganj police station in this connection.

Indian medicine seized  
OUR CORRESPONDENT, Benapole 

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) seized huge amount of Indian medicine worth Tk 50 lakh raiding Benapole check post area under Benapole port police station yesterday. 
Lt Col Jahangir Hossain, commanding officer, 26 Border Guard Battalion said on information, BGB personnel seized Indian medicine in abandoned condition raiding the area. None was arrested in this connection. The seized goods were deposited to Benapole Customs godown. A case was filed. 

Blankets distributed 
NARAIL: The district community policing at a function at the local police lines on Tuesday distributed 200 blankets among cold-hit people, reports BSS.
Sources concerned said the community policing undertook the blanket distribution programme for mitigating sufferings of the cold-hit poor people.
Police Super Sarder Rakibul Islam distributed the blankets among the poor people.
Additional Police Super (circle) Jahidul Islam, Assistant Police Super Kamruzzaman, District Community Policing General Secretary Kazi Hafizur Rahman, among others, were present on the occasion.
