Nazmul Hossain Shanto’s unbeaten 69 and Saif Hassan’s 54 steered Bangladesh Under-19 Cricket Team to edge past their South African counterpart by eight wickets in the fourth match of the seven-match youth ODI series at City Oval, Pietermaritzburg yesterday.
By virtue of the victory, Bangladesh put ahead 3-1.
The home side managed to put on 170 for nine in 50 overs after deciding to bat first. In its chase, Bangladesh run down the target with 58 balls to spare at the cost of just two wickets.
After the fall of Pinak Ghosh, Saif Hassan in association with Namul Hasan Shanto made a 124-run partnership for the second wickets stand. Shanto top-scored for Bangladesh with 69 off 94, clubbing eight boundaries in his 132-minute stay at wickets.
Saif Hassan struck the second best 54. His patient 122-ball innings was studded with six boundaries.
Mulder and Glover picked up one wicket each for the losing side.
Earlier, the home side rode on Liam Smith’s 59 set a 171-run target for the visiting side. Mohammad Saifuddin was the pick, who grabbed four wickets for 42.
