Bangladesh players put a spirited performance, apparently motivated by Nazmul Hassan Papon who simultaneously warned and inspired the players to bring back their natural game as the series is at stake.
The hosts who were eyeing to level the series in order to keep up their success at home den, bowled in tight line and length to suffocate the South African batsmen for the first time in the series and awakened a prospect of a victory.
It’s not that the bowlers bowled badly in the two-match Twenty20 series and the first ODI but the batsmen ruined their good job by showing irresponsible batting.
South African batsmen were outstanding in the last three matches despite Bangladeshi bowlers put in a disciplined bowling performance. They adapted the condition swiftly and proved the myth of being vulnerable against spinner wrong one.
However as it needed a special performance to contain the inform South African side, the bowler propped up their game once again and this time they came with high intensity and more disciplined manner than any other time.
All the bowlers chipped in magnificently in to unsettle the mighty South African batsmen. Though the condition was favourable for them, still they needed to do it in planned way because for the South African team, condition matters little which they proved in the last three matches.
At the half-way mark, it seemed that Bangladesh are in right track to stay alive in the series. And it also seemed that the president’s urgent meeting with the players, supporting staff and team management worked well.
The president met five-member technical committee to know their opinion about Bangladesh’s dismal form and seek their recommendation. The made some recommendations of replacing some players. Among them Rubel Hossain is the bowler whom they recommended to bring back in the team.
Papon conveyed the technical committee’s recommendation to the team management and also discussed them that what the team combination should be to bail the team out from the perpetual failure. He also talked to the players and informed them what fault they did in those matches. Papon then inspired them to come all guns blazing and it looked worked well at least after the first innings.
The bowlers bowled in tandem to take in the side in a position of dominance. Nasir Hossain and Mustafizur Rahman claimed three for 36 and three for 26 respectively and were complemented by comeback hero Rubel Hossain who brought up class one game and took two for 34.
