Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader yesterday said Bangladesh has witnessed an unprecedented development and achievement in 2016 becoming a role model before the entire world, reports BSS.
"Today we can say very proudly that the country has achieved a lot in 2016 under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina," he told a discussion of Awami Juba League in front of the party's central office at Bangabandhu Avenue in the capital. Wishing the countrymen a very happy New Year, the minister said they would root out militant and communal forces from the society. "Militants attacks in the Holey Artisan Cafe in Gulshan and Sholakia Eid congregation in Kishoreganj had created troubled and panic temporarily but could not make us disgruntled," he said. He, however, said the country is yet to forget the tragedy of Gulshan and Sholakia attacks. "So it is our pledge in the month of victory that we will resist all terrorist activities in the coming year," Terming the BNP as a "party of complaints", the Awami League general secretary said BNP has failed in everywhere including in movement and election. "Unsuccessful person always lodges complaint, but BNP makes falsehood. They are now doing politics of falsehood," he said.
